thousand years. Legend tell us that if we stop, great evil is loose on world.
At this troubled time for Ukrainian people, we will bless and support by making
as many pysanky and krashanky (Easter egg) as possible. We will give as
many as we can away, to multiply blessing. Baba encourage you to make extra for people in Ukraina.
Is simple. With love in your heart, make as many colour egg
as you can in April, then give away. Or you can just throw at advancing tank.
There is two kind of Ukrainian egg, easy and harder.
Easy peas is krashanky, picture in middle above. These is one colour, made with
vegetable dye. Basic, you wash egg, then boil in some kind of thing you pull
out from earth. You can eat these as long you remember to refrigerate.
Full rainbow colour range: yellow, orange, red, purple
from thing like beet, cabbage, spinach, parsley, even tea!
Complete colour chart is below.
If you boil vegetable separate from egg, you put egg in
cool dye anywhere from few minute to overnight, depending how dark you like
colour. Rotate egg in dye so you not get egg look like hippie-schmippie let his
tie-dye go bad.
Strain veggie dye into bowl.
To make cute design: wrap elastic band around egg in
cool dye, apply sticker or leaf.
For leaf design: Pick leaf. What kind of leaf, you
asking Baba. Oi yoi yoi, use your good imagination. Lay leaf on egg. Cut square
of pantyhose and wrap around egg. Wash pantyhose first. Don't be disgusting and
make egg smell like feet. Use twist tie on top of p-hose. Put egg in cool dye.
If you boil egg along with vegetable, you get more even
colour, without rotation.
